Important Update: CASPA’s Transition to a Charitable Incorporated Organisation (CIO) 

As of 31 August 2024, Children on the Autistic Spectrum Parents Association, previously registered as a charitable trust under number 1110260, has officially transferred all assets, liabilities, and operations to Charitable Incorporated Organisation (CIO), CASPA. The new CIO is registered under charity number 1200786 and Companies House number CE030486. 

What Does This Mean for You? 

In short, nothing will change in the incredible work that CASPA does. Our programs, support, and services continue to serve our autistic community, and many of our members, donors, and partners will not notice any difference. However, we wanted to explain why we’ve made this change because you’ve noticed the update. 

Why Did We Make This Change? 

Transitioning to a CIO provides significant benefits, particularly in terms of limited liability for our Trustees, like what charitable companies enjoy. However, unlike charitable companies, a CIO only needs to file accounts with the Charity Commission, rather than also with Companies House. This change streamlines our administrative obligations and allows us to focus more on our mission. 

Additionally, we’re simplifying our name from the full “Children on the Autistic Spectrum Parents Association” to “CASPA,” which is how we’re already known by our members, donors, partners, and funders.

The only action required from our donors and partners is to update our bank details in your records:

Our Legacy 

As we transition to the new CIO, our nearly 20-year history as the Children on the Autistic Spectrum Parents Association will eventually no longer be visible on the Charity Commission website, as the old charity will be formally closed. Before this happens, we will ensure that our remarkable history and key documents from the former charitable trust are shared on this page.
