RUN CASPA RUN!!
Hello all from CASPA.
It’s time for the monthly CASPA news that highlights and celebrates all of the achievements of our members, clubs, activities and the dedicated team of staff and volunteers that makes it all possible.
This month we want celebrate and congratulate everyone that ran and ran and ran, and when they were absolutely exhausted and shattered, they ran and ran some more. This didn’t just happen for one event, we are talking about two different fundraising events that focus on…RUNNING!
The first to take place was the famous ‘London Marathon’. This is an internationally famous event and every year so many people try their luck at running the 26 mile sightseers bus tour minus the bus to drive you around.
This year the marathon made headlines for setting a new world record for the largest number of marathon finishers, with 56,640 runners completing the challenge of a lifetime. It’s a lot of people, but hidden among them were the two most important people to take part… Stacy Long and Amelia Phillips, both of whom ran the marathon to raise funds for CASPA. Together they raised a whopping £3,862!
Thank you Stacy! Thank you Amelia!

The second event was ‘fourdaysrunning’ or ‘fourdayswalking’ where a whole team of dedicated fundraisers ran and walked for four whole days! Whilst this sounds exhausting, at least they had a beautiful view whilst doing it, because this years ‘fourdays’ took place along The Solent Way near Southampton with sites of countryside and coastline. There are worse places to walk or run for four days.
Within this group of die hard athletes is CASPA’s very own CEO Sarah Towler and Finance Manager Julie Covill. A big shout out to the both of them for being an example to us all!
Undertaking this challenge is a truly phenomenal achievement. What’s even more phenomenal is that the team have already raised over £23,000 for CASPA. This is a huge deal as a combined grand total of £27,281 has been raised just from people running. All of this fundraising will go towards funding our two new CASPA clubs to help reduce our waiting list and welcome even more autistic individuals and their families into the CASPA community.
There is now nothing left to say other than a massive thank you and well done to everyone that took part in the London marathon and ‘fourdaysrunning’ to raise money for CASPA. It really will make all the difference.
Well Done Guys!
